25-years of NEWW

The programme of the anniversary included, among others, a biographical and herstorical workshop "Feminist River of Life", presentations of feminist initiatives and Ann Snitow's lecture "Who is afraid of gender? Who is afraid of women".

During the workshop recommendation for gender equal policies were gathered.

From the description of the anniversary:

When the transformation began in Poland, feminists from all over Eastern and Central Europe met feminist activists from the United States in Dubrovnik to work together to advance women's rights and democracy. This meeting, which took place 25 years ago, led to the founding of the Network of East-West Women (NEWW). This was also the time when the important Polish organisations working in the field of women's rights were founded: eFKa, TIK and the Federation for Women and Family Planning. It's time to celebrate all that we've done together.

The workshop and conference is organized by several initiatives and institutions, including:

Network of East-West Women, NEWW
Institute of Sociology, Jagiellonian University in Krakow
Centre for Media Research pedagogical University of Cracow
eFKa Women's Foundation
Crisis Intervention Society in Krakow
